چکیده

Organophosphorous and organochlorine pesticides, which were banned or restricted in the US and in Europe years ago, are still applied in India to control pests affecting pulses and wheat. Their simple application, efficacy, and economic return may explain the popularity of these pesticides in Indian agriculture. Unfortunately, organophosphorous and organochlorine pesticides are in general very toxic even at low concentrations. As they are also mostly recalcitrant to biodegradation, residues are found in the environment, in drinking water, and in crop food. Since pesticide-contaminated soils and water pose a major environmental and human health problem, fast and efficient strategies for the decontamination of polluted sites as well as accurate monitoring of these hazardous substances are needed.

Hydroponic uptake of atrazine and lambda-cyhalothrin in Juncus effusus and Ludwigia peploides.

Phytoremediation encompasses an array of plant-associated processes known to mitigate contaminants from soil, sediment, and water. Modification of pesticides associated with agricultural runoff includes processes directly associated with aquatic macrophytes in addition to changes in soil geochemistry and associated rhizospheric degradation. Remediation attributes of two vegetative species commo...

Determination of organochlorine pesticide residues in the raw milk taken from milk collection centers in Urmia in 2020

Background and Objective: Milk is one of the most important components of human food. In recent decades, the continued use of pesticides has led to contamination of soil, water, air and milk and caused public concern in the community. Long-term exposure to pesticide residuals in the food chain can be harmful. Therefore, there is a need to control environmental conditions in order to improve its...

Role of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal (AM) Fungi in Phytoremediation of Soils Contaminated: A Review

Pollution of the soil environment with toxic materials from fossil burning, mining and smelting of metalliferous ores, disposal of sewage, fertilizers and pesticides, etc. has increased dramatically since the onset of industrial revolution. Application of plants with ability of absorbing heavy metals is a low-cost alternative for eliminating soils from heavy metals. Phytoremediation uses plants...

ON-LINE SOLID-PHASE EXTRACTION AND LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY/PARTICLE BEAM-MASS SPECTROMETRY FOR DEGRADATION STUDIES OF SOME POLAR PESTICIDES IN WATER

An on-line automated method for photodegradation studies of isoproturon, diuron, atrazine, fenitrothion, and metoxuron by means of liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) with particle beam (PB) interface is described. Surface water samples were first spiked with 50 µg/l of each pesticide and then exposed to the radiation of the medium-pressure mercury lamp. Next, in regular intervals o...
